You’ll notice that we like to be the first. It’s not because we like to brag, but rather because we take the remodeling industry’s training and certification very seriously. It’s the reason why we were the first remodeler in the New River Valley to receive the National Association of Home Builders Remodeler of the Month award and the national Big 50 award from Remodeling Magazine. We were also the first Certified Graduate Remodeler in southwest Virginia. Blue Ridge Home Improvement has received the Safety Leadership Award for fifteen (15) consecutive Injury Free Years from Commonwealth Contractors (April 1, 2004 – March 31, 2019).

National and Regional Awards

National Remodeler of the Month, April 9, 2010, Blue Ridge Home Improvement, Inc. (BRHI) in Blacksburg, Va., was nationally recognized as the April 2010 Remodeler of the Month by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers. BRHI, selected through a stringent judging process of NAHB Remodelers leadership and staff, exemplifies the best in the remodeling industry.

The “Big 50” Award, 1999, BRHI received the Big 50 Award by Remodeling magazine, an honor given to the top 50 of the 800,000 remodeling entities across the nation who set the standard for professionalism and integrity in the industry.

Professional Certifications & Memberships

	CGR, Certified Graduate Remodeler – BRHI is the only CGR in southwest Virginia. The CGR designation helps you determine which remodeling contractor you can trust to do a professional, high quality job. CGR designation assures you that your remodeler has met NAHB standards of business practice and completed relevant educational requirements; has a proven track record of successfully completing projects and pledges to uphold the CGR Code of Ethics.
	GMB, Graduate Master Builder – The ultimate symbol of the building professional, the Graduate Master Builder (GMB) designation is for experienced veterans only. The Graduate Master Builder designation is earned through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
	CAPS, Certified Aging in Place Specialist – CAPS is a program through AARP and NAHB for specialists who work with active, aging adults. BRHI was the first CAPS remodeler in southwest Virginia.
	CGP, Certified Green Professional – CGP is a program through NAHB certifying building professionals with skills and knowledge necessary to remodel or modify a home with green building principles.
	EPA Lead-Safe Certified – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) developed a new rule on July 6, 2010 requiring anyone who disturbs lead paint in homes built before 1978 to acquire training and certification for lead-safe work practices. BRHI was the first remodeling company in the New River Valley to become Lead-Safe Certified.
	NAHB, National Association of Home Builders, Certified Member – NAHB is one of the largest trade associations in the United States. Being a member shows BRHI is a licensed building professional of the highest integrity.
	NRVHBA, New River Valley Home Builders Association – NRVHBA is a professional trade organization for the residential and commercial building industry. President Tim Lawrence has been an active member on the board of directors for over 10 years, and chair of the Finance and Home Expo committees.
	National Kitchen and Bath Association Certified Member – Susan Davidson is certified Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer (AKBD) of the NKBA. As the only trade association dedicated exclusively to this industry, the primary purpose of NKBA certification programs is to provide for the health, safety, and welfare of the public. To ensure this, certification is offered exclusively to individuals who prove specialized qualifications through experience and testing.
