Get Ready for Summer Home Improvement

Here are some quick summer home improvement tips to get your home perfect shape!
- CHECK YOUR GUTTERS – Improper drainage can lead to water in the basement or crawl space. Make sure downspouts drain away from the foundation and are clear and free of debris.
- CHECK YOUR YARD – Low areas in the yard or next to the foundation should be filled with compacted soil. Spring rains can cause yard flooding, which can lead to foundation flooding and damage. Also, when water pools in these low areas in summer, it creates a breeding ground for insects.
- CHECK YOUR MULCH – A lot of homeowners add mulch to their flower beds with the change in seasons. Be careful not to pile up mulch against the side of the home. Even if it’s vinyl siding, mulch retains moisture, which can seep behind the siding. This could lead to mold, rot or leaks into the basement or crawl space.
